Biodiversity Register Dedication

     Biodiversity register dedication: It has been decided to Dedicate a "Biodiversity register" to the kadanad panchayat on 30th November 2011, wednesday at 2.00 pm in panchayat office. The book contains the details about the historic monuments, archeological evidence, written documents indicates the trade relation of kadanad  with foreign countries in centuries before etc. It also contains all the details about Kadanad which are to be kept secretly, since these make kadanad unique. The panchayat has a know history over 5000 years. 

      The previous governing body was initiated the research for this documentary and completed its work in their period of time. Now it is going to dedicate it to panchayat to keep in locker. This documentary was made with the help of Kerala State biodiversity board. Dr. Punnan Kurian who is the Kottayam District coordinator and Mr. Jose Poothettu, the panchayat wise BMC convenier  had given the leadership for its preparation.

      The meeting will start at 2.00 pm and it will be presided over by Mrs. Treesama Thomas, the president of Kadanad Panchayat. An introduction speech will be delivered by Dr. Punnan Kurian and Mr. Kuriakose Padavan will Dedicate it to panchayat. The detailed notice is given below.

Protest against Mullaperiyar issue

      Protest against Mullaperiyar issue was Held at Kadanad in the leadership of Jeevan S.H group Kadanad on 28th November 2011.  The protest was against the attitude of government that not taking any protective measures.  The needs such as construction of new dam, Save the life of lacks of people, change the attitude of governments etc raised on the Protest.  It was a silent rally Held with the leadership of  Joyel Kannanchira, Vinsoy Chittettu,  Jaibin Thachampuram, Siby Adckapara, Thomas Michel Kavinpuram and 100's of people followed the rally on one demand: that to save life of lacks of fellow beings.
      The protest started from the panchayat office Junction at 5.30pm and rounded through all town. And placed a flux board at the town.  It was ended at the central junction with the speech of prof: Augustine Eddassery (Rtd Principal Maharajas collage).  He mentioned about the pathetic situation of people who lives near the dam site and what things we must do for them. He also congratulated its coordinators.

Kadanad Panchayat

       Kadanad panchayth office is situated 100m away from kadanad center junction on Kadanad-Pizhaku Road. Kadanad Pachayat was officially established on 1958. First President of Kadanad grama panchayat was Mr.P.M Joseph.  It is having an area of 40.19 sqkm.

Old Panchayat Office

       First the panchayat office was a small one as seen in the photo above. Later in 2006 in connection with the celebration of 50th Kerala piravi day celebration, a new block containing the Office of the Assistant Executive Engineer was started Working. It is constructed in attachment to the old office. This Block includes a conference hall too.

     Now the third building is being constructed to function as front office for panchyat.  Front office facility will help people to make the deals with panchayat easy.  Its construction is progressing.

Protest against petrol price rise: Kadanad

      There arranged a protest against petrol price rise at Kadanad on 4th October 2011. It was under the leadership of Jeevan S.H Group Kadanad. Kadanad Church assistant vicar Rev. Fr. Mathew Pinakkad Flagged of the protest rally. It was lead by Joyel Kannanchira, Reji Uzhuthanamalayil, Vinsoy chittettu, Augustine Puthia Kunnel etc. Many young people participated in this rally by pushing their bike through entire town. The demands of the protest were Maintain the continuous fluctuation in the petrol price, withdraw the power of company to decide the price and so on. The rally started at 5 PM and rounded the town.
